IPCA Knowledge Basket

As resources on IPCAs become available or are developed by partners of the Pacific IPCA Innovation Centre, we work to ensure that these materials are available on the IPCA Knowledge Basket. The IPCA Knowledge Basket is a unique digital resource that holds stories, videos, songs, government reports and policies, academic articles, resources, and artwork available to all who seek to support Indigenous-led conservation. Resources are free and available to anyone who creates an account (called “basket”) on the site. Examples of resources include an “IPCA Creation Guide” and an “IPCA Governance Scan”—two useful tools for IPCA establishment.

Pacific IPCA Knowledge Hub

Through funding from the Canadian Mountain Network, the Pacific IPCA Innovation Centre was able to establish a Knowledge Hub that is dedicated to supporting research and knowledge mobilization for IPCAs in the Pacific region. Partners are working together to deepen their understanding and practice of Ethical Space and are advancing specific projects in regions throughout British Columbia and beyond. The University for Peace in Costa Rica is also a partner and is helping to share knowledge and resources about IPCAs that have international value and relevance.

Pacific IPCA Knowledge Hub

The Pacific IPCA Innovation Centre Knowledge Hub (Pacific IPCA Hub) fosters relationships and brings together the best of Indigenous and western knowledge systems for the restoration and conservation of biocultural diversity. The Pacific IPCA Hub is being funded by the Canadian Mountain Network between April 2021 and March 2024.

Programs are designed and delivered in Ethical Space, including workshops on diverse aspects of IPCAs, productive retreats, field schools, language and culture programs with local knowledge holders and artists, as well as conferences and events. Partners include experts in conservation biology, ecology, ethnoecology, ecological restoration, Indigenous knowledge and food systems, governance, and Indigenous languages and cultures.
